Staff in the consular section will do everything they properly
can to help British people in difficulty in China. This website
explains some of the things that we can do to help you and some
of the things we can't do. In addition to helping British nationals
directly, we also operate a network of wardens around China to keep
British citizens who are registered with the Embassy informed of
any changes to our travel advice, and what to do in case of emergency.
UK law says that we have to charge for some services. A notice
in the consular section displays the standards of service you can
expect under the Citizen's Charter.
The consular section is open from 8.30am-12am and from 1.30pm-3.30pm.
In the event of a genuine emergency, we can be reached at any time.
You should call the main Embassy number, (0086) (10) 6532 1961.
A recorded message will tell you how to contact the 24-hour duty
officer.
